THE FUTURE OF BANKING IS HERE
Stellar gives you platform enabling many of features and futures for accepting payments globally.
With a team of top technology and finance professionals, Stellar.org is a nonprofit that connects people to low-cost financial services to fight poverty and develop individual potential.
Platforms, not products, are the way to bring financial services to the poor. Mobile money from one provider can rarely be transferred to another network, let alone to another country in a different currency.
In recent years, the banking and finance industries have not done a lot to earn the trust of consumers in the West. But in poor countries, basic financial services can be transformative.
Even in today’s wired world, many people still stash cash under the mattress, where inflation erodes it away. When they want to send money, they have to find a way to physically transport it. Loans are doled out in bundles or envelopes from moneylenders, at exorbitant rates. Emergencies or unforeseen circumstances can drive a family into penury.
The financial services these people need may come via mobile banking, as Bill and Melinda Gates wrote recently in their annual letter. Basic banking services—from simple payments and transfers to insurance, savings, and loans—are now possible on the simplest of mobile phones, as Quartz has reported.
But most of these systems are hobbled by a lack of interoperability. Mobile money from one provider can rarely be transferred to another network, let alone to another country in a different currency.Q U A R T Z
Giving Away 3 Billion Lumens to Bitcoin Holders
When were designing Stellar, Bitcoin acted as a profound inspiration. The Bitcoin network was the first to show that it’s possible for a group of untrusted parties to agree on a common database, and the Bitcoin community still influences our understanding of this technology’s impact.
With all that in mind, Stellar.org has reserved 19% of the initial lumens—a total of 19 billion lumens—for people who hold bitcoin. They will make available these lumens to any bitcoin holder who wants them. For limited period only*. (This is limited giveaway to bitcoin holders)

The Reserve Bank of India has successfully tested blockchain technology for trade application. The evaluation was carried out in partnership with MonetaGo, domestic banks and other financial institutions.
The Reserve Bank’s blockchain research follows a recent partnership between one of the Indian banking majors, ICICI Bank and Stellar. ICICI bank had announced its plans to develop a Stellar-based blockchain application for transactions within closed groups. Few other Indian banks working on blockchain technology includes Axis Bank and Yes Bank. Axis Bank, in partnership with Ripple, is set to offer cross-border payment services over distributed ledger.
